The Ghosts of
Devils Lake
A Ghostly Welcome ...
Welcome to the Ghosts of Devils Lake website, where the spirits of North Dakota's pioneers and native people still haunt the dusty streets and countryside they walked more than a century ago.

The Ghosts of Devils Lake will soon be immortalized in a book that brings them back to life ... if you dare to meet them on their terms.

Author Corrine Kenner is actively looking for stories of the area's earliet settlers — like that of Lillian Wineman, the eccentric pioneer who reportedly stayed with her belongings — even after she died, and her furnishings were moved into a local history museum.

You might have seen the ghostly shadow of the “Minnie H” steamboat and her captain, Edward Heerman, still sailng between the town of Devils Lake and the Fort Totten reservation.

Or maybe you know a new twist on the account of the Dakotah warriors killed during a gruesome battle on the dark and stormy waters of Devils Lake.
